Help finding a job in 2025: let’s get across the finish line.

Last year, the job search became more complicated and securing that job offer, more challenging. How does one get job offers in 2025? As a career coach, I gain firsthand insights into what’s working — and what’s not — in an ever-evolving job market. See the 6 suggestions below.

  1. Be crystal clear about your unique skills and the role and culture you’re seeking. Reflect on this as AI tools cannot help. Lean on this insight to more successfully communicate your value to employers.

  2. Seek expert advice as opposed to conflicting internet tips or suggestions from well-meaning friends. The application process is constantly evolving and advice from those immersed within the field, such as an HR rep., a reputable career coach, or colleague in a role that you aspire to, will jumpstart or shorten your search.

  3. Take walks. Everyone feels better after a walk.

  4. Serendipity is your friend. Unexpected conversations and unanticipated opportunities are often the most valuable. In fact, 70% of job openings are never publicly posted, and 80% of interviews stem from conversations with others. Whether it's a casual chat at a coffee shop or a LinkedIn message, stay connected and open to opportunities that may not yet exist on a job board.

  5. Focus on what’s in your control and let the rest go. The most successful applicants carve out 2 hours a day for the search and then shift their focus towards learning something new, spending time with family, or volunteer activities.

  6. Celebrate small wins. The job search isn’t easy, regardless of your experience or goals. Give yourself credit for small steps forward along the way.

The job search is an emotional journey. Share your unique gifts and take care of yourself.  Seek expert advice to guide your decisions and stay open to unexpected opportunities. You gathered your courage and started this application process for a reason. You’ll get there my friend and know in the end; it is worth it. #crossthefinishline
